Big Concerns for Small Business

April 15, 2024

Since its founding in 1943, the non-profit National Federation of Small Businesses (NFIB) has represented small and independent business owners across the U.S. Today, it also represents stakeholders who are not sold on the economy. NFIB’s Small Business Optimism index decreased in March to its lowest level since December 2012. NFIB economists believe that optimism has declined because inflation remains stubborn. Nearly 25% of small business owners said inflation was the most important problem. Following close behind are labor issues such as difficulty in filling job openings. Combined with its monthly Trend Report, NFIB reports that economic indicators show signs of a potential slowdown.
